Job Title : Data Scientist (Retail Analytics)

Location : Bangalore

Experience : Freshers- 10 Years

Job Overview :

Our client is looking for a Retail Analytics professional who can independently manage analytics and reporting across the retail business. The ideal candidate will work closely with merchandising, pricing, promotions, and customer analytics teams to generate actionable insights and support data-driven business decisions.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on executing analyses, building dashboards, and translating complex data into clear business insights. The candidate should be comfortable working across teams and owning deliverables end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities :


- Build and maintain dashboards and performance reports across retail categories, pricing, and promotional activities.

- Conduct structured analyses on promotion effectiveness, pricing impact, and merchandising performance.

- Monitor key retail KPIs including sales performance, basket size, customer retention, and category performance, and highlight anomalies.


- Perform customer cohort analysis and segmentation to identify growth and retention opportunities.

- Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and operations teams to address business data requirements.

- Work with data engineering teams to validate data quality and ensure availability from retail data sources.

- Translate business questions into SQL queries and structured analytical outputs.

- Prepare insight presentations and reports for business stakeholders and leadership reviews.

Required Skills & Knowledge :

Technical Knowledge :


- Strong understanding of retail KPI frameworks such as sales, basket size, conversion rate, retention, and LTV.


- Knowledge of promo analytics, pricing analytics, and merchandising analytics.


- Familiarity with retail data sources such as POS systems, CRM platforms, and digital commerce data.

- Understanding of customer analytics techniques including RFM segmentation, cohort analysis, and basket analysis.

Technical Skills :


- Strong SQL skills with ability to write complex queries, joins, and aggregations independently.

- Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

- Working knowledge of Python or PySpark for data analysis and manipulation.

- Strong analytical and communication skills to present insights to business stakeholders.

- Ability to work in fast-paced and ambiguous environments with a proactive approach.

Good to Have :


- Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Azure Databricks.


- Familiarity with A/B testing and statistical analysis of experiments.

- Experience in product affinity modelling or personalization analytics.

- Knowledge of Jira or project/work management tools.

Qualifications :


- B.Tech / B.Sc in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

- MBA in Analytics / Marketing is an added advantage.

Experience :


- 2- 3 years of experience in Retail Analytics or eCommerce Analytics.
