Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer with a strong focus on SQL to join our data team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, and optimizing our database performance to support business intelligence and analytical needs. This role requires deep expertise in SQL and a solid understanding of data warehousing principles.


Key Responsibilities :


Design and Development :


- Design, develop, and implement highly efficient and reliable data models and ETL/ELT pipelines using advanced SQL techniques across various database platforms (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server).


SQL Optimization :


- Write, tune, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views to improve data extraction and transformation speeds and overall database performance.


Data Warehousing :


- Build and maintain our enterprise data warehouse, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility for reporting and analytics.


- Apply data modeling techniques (e.g., Dimensional Modeling, 3NF).


Pipeline Management :


- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within data pipelines and database systems to ensure timely and accurate data delivery.


Collaboration :


- Work closely with Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and product teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and data solutions.


Documentation :


- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, ETL processes, and database schemas.


Qualifications :


Required Skills & Experience :


- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.


- 7+ years of professional experience in a Data Engineering, Database Development, or BI Developer role.


- Expert-level proficiency in SQL is non-negotiable, including advanced knowledge of window functions, common table expressions (CTEs), indexing, and query plan analysis.


- Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing solutions.


- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., Star Schema, Snowflake Schema).


- Experience with at least one major cloud data warehouse platform (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).


- Familiarity with a scripting language for data manipulation and automation (e.g., Python).


- Experience with version control tools like Git.


Preferred Skills & Experience (A Plus) :


- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).


- Knowledge of data governance, data security best practices, and data quality frameworks.


- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).


- Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
