CIMET - Senior PHP Laravel Engineer - Microservices Architecture

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION :

Econnex is seeking an experienced Senior Laravel PHP Engineer with deep expertise in microservices architecture and MySQL database design. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building, scaling, and
optimizing our CAAS (Comparison as a Service) platform. The candidate will work closely with engineering leadership, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, secure, and scalable applications.

KEY ACCOUNTABLIITIES :

Design & Development :

- Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Laravel (PHP 8+).

- Build and integrate microservices to enhance modularity and performance.

- Implement and optimize RESTful APIs / GraphQL for internal and external consumption.

Database Engineering :

- Design and optimize complex MySQL schemas ensuring performance and scalability.

- Implement caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and query optimization.

System Architecture :

- Work on event-driven and asynchronous processing systems (e.g., queues, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).

- Collaborate on cloud-native deployments (AWS preferred) with containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).

Quality & Delivery :

- Ensure clean code practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and security best practices.

- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.

Collaboration :

- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment with close collaboration with product, DevOps, and QA teams.

- Contribute to technical discussions, architectural decisions, and roadmap planning.

Core Tech Stack :

- Strong experience in Laravel (PHP 8+) with microservices-based development.

- Deep expertise in MySQL, query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.

- Proficient in API design (REST/GraphQL).

Engineering Practices :

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).

- Familiar with TDD/BDD, PHPUnit/Pest.

- Strong knowledge of design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean architecture.

Cloud & Infrastructure :

- Hands-on with AWS (ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda) or equivalent cloud platforms.

- Containerization experience with Docker, Kubernetes.

- Understanding of monitoring & observability tools (Prometheus, ELK, New Relic).

Nice to Have :

- Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).

- Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).

- Knowledge of frontend frameworks (Vue.js/React) for full-stack collaboration.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

- 7+ years of experience in backend development with PHP.

- At least 3+ years working with Laravel framework in production.

- 2+ years in designing/deploying microservices architectures and API Gateways.

- Proven track record of scaling high-traffic applications.
