Position Overview :
We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence & Analytics Engineering Consultant to support the development and expansion of our People Analytics reporting capabilities. This is a blended role : roughly 60% business intelligence designing and building intuitive, scalable Power BI dashboards and roughly 40% analytics engineering building and maintaining the transformed, well-modeled data layer that those dashboards depend on.
The ideal candidate pairs deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Power BI and SQL with strong data modeling and transformation skills using tools such as dbt on a cloud data warehouse. They can translate business questions into both well-designed data models and the reports and insights built on top of them.
Business Intelligence Responsibilities (?60%) :
- Design, develop, test, and maintain interactive Power BI reports and dashboards for the People Analytics function.
- Partner with People Analytics and HR stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions.
- Build clear, intuitive visualizations for workforce metrics such as headcount, attrition, hiring, internal mobility, diversity, compensation, tenure, and organizational structure.
- Develop reusable Power BI datasets, semantic models, measures, and calculations using DAX.
- Build and maintain effective data relationships, hierarchies, and calculation logic within the semantic layer.
- Troubleshoot Power BI performance, refresh, data-quality, and reporting issues.
- Support the implementation of reporting standards, dashboard design guidelines, and Power BI development best practices.
- Participate in report reviews, user acceptance testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancements.
Analytics Engineering Responsibilities (?40%) :
- Design, build, and maintain transformation models (e.g., in dbt) that turn raw source data into clean, tested, well-documented tables for reporting and analysis.
- Develop and maintain dimensional data models, including fact and dimension tables, that serve as the trusted foundation for Power BI semantic models.
- Write and optimize SQL to extract, transform, validate, and analyze data from multiple HR and enterprise source systems.
- Implement data tests, validation, and reconciliation logic to ensure downstream reports are accurate, consistent, and aligned with agreed-upon business definitions.
- Document data models, transformation logic, lineage, and business definitions to support maintainability and reuse.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve underlying data models, pipelines, and warehouse structures.
- Apply version control and development-lifecycle practices to transformation code and analytics assets.
Required Qualifications :
- Strong hands-on experience developing production-level reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI.
- Advanced knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power Query, and DAX.
- Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, common table expressions, window functions, and data validation.
- Hands-on experience designing and building data models dimensional models and reusable transformation layers for BI and analytics use cases.
- Experience with a transformation/analytics-engineering workflow (dbt or equivalent), including testing and documentation.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear reporting requirements, data models, and technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of dashboard design, data visualization, and user-experience best practices.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams across locations and time zones.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Production experience using dbt for data transformation, testing, documentation, and analytics engineering.
- Experience with Snowflake or another cloud-based data warehouse.
- Previous experience supporting People Analytics, Human Resources, workforce planning, or talent reporting.
- Familiarity with HR systems such as SuccessFactors, Workday, Kronos, applicant tracking systems, or similar platforms.
- Experience with source control (Git), CI/CD, or deployment processes for analytics assets.
- Familiarity with data governance, row-level security, and handling confidential employee data.
Key Technical Skills :
- Business Intelligence : Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, data visualization, dashboard development.
- Analytics Engineering : SQL, dbt, dimensional/data modeling, transformation testing, data validation and quality assurance.
- Preferred : Snowflake, Git, and HR data experience.

- Develop solutions that are maintainable, well documented, and reusable across the organization.
