Chief Manager - Database Administrator

Role Overview :

As the Chief Manager - Database Administrator, you will lead the strategic direction, architecture, and operational excellence of our critical database infrastructure. This pivotal role involves overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of complex database systems, ensuring high availability, robust security, and peak performance across all enterprise applications.

You will collaborate closely with development teams, infrastructure engineers, and various business stakeholders to understand data requirements, drive innovative solutions, and support strategic initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in safeguarding our data assets, enabling seamless business operations, and providing the reliable data foundation essential for informed decision-making and sustained organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define and implement comprehensive database strategies, architectures, and standards to align with organizational goals, ensuring scalability, resilience, and future readiness for evolving business needs.

- Proactively monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving complex bottlenecks to guarantee optimal application response times and a superior user experience.

- Design, implement, and manage robust high availability and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring continuous data access and minimal downtime for critical business operations and regulatory compliance.

- Establish and enforce stringent database security policies, access controls, and audit mechanisms to protect sensitive data assets and ensure adherence to industry regulations and internal governance.

- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of database administrators, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and the adoption of industry best practices.

- Evaluate and manage relationships with database technology vendors, assessing new tools and technologies to enhance database capabilities, improve efficiency, and drive innovation.

- Conduct thorough capacity planning and forecasting, ensuring the database infrastructure can effectively support current operational demands and future business growth and data volume expansion.

Required Skillset :

- Deep expertise in administering, architecting, and optimizing enterprise-grade relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and significant experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

- Proven ability in database architecture, advanced performance tuning, robust backup/recovery strategies, and implementing high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Oracle RAC).

- Strong command over database security principles, data governance frameworks, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for automation, infrastructure as code, and streamlining complex database operations.

- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities, demonstrated through a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing technical teams.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and influencing strategic technology decisions.

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline from a reputed institution.

- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, effectively managing multiple priorities and critical projects while working on-site in Navi Mumbai.
