CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our Digital Engineering Solutions team. This individual will be part of the Development group, helping design and implement cloud-based solutions facilitating CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring that software development and operations teams work collaboratively. An ideal candidate will be a critical thinker, proactive, and highly interested in the application of new technologies and methods.
Key responsibilities :
- Take ownership of projects and work independently in a collaborative environment.
- Engage in project workshops, collaborating with stakeholders and software developers to design database schemas and data models.
- Establish security measures for safeguarding private data, including encryption and access controls, and conduct routine database audits.
- Consistently monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Develop and oversee a strategy for disaster recovery (DRM) to prevent data loss.
- Implement data governance procedures and ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA.
- Manage and maintain databases, conduct routine maintenance, and ensure data availability and integrity.
- Collaborate with data analysts to provide well-structured data and insights for business intelligence.
- Support Azure SQL, NoSQL, and other database needs.
- Utilize programming skills such as SQL, Python, and PowerShell to interact with databases and incorporate them into applications.
- Conduct continuous R&D to provide the team with innovative database features and capabilities.
Skills and Abilities :
- Extensive DBA expertise in large-scale SQL Server settings, including Azure managed instance databases.
- Proficient in high- and low-level design (HLD and LLD), including ER diagrams, data models, and data pipeline flow.
- Proficient in database design, managing high-volume Azure SQL configurations, and performance optimization.
- Experience managing data warehouses, data lakes, and Databricks.
- Knowledge of Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
- Proficiency with SQL, Python, PowerShell, and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps).
- Strong understanding of database security best practices and Azure cloud infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Azure certifications (DP-300/DP-900).
- Bachelor's degree in software development, Engineering, or related industry.
