We are looking for an experienced Senior Cassandra DBA with strong expertise in Apache Cassandra and DataStax Enterprise (DSE) to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise-scale Cassandra clusters. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence of DSE environments through proactive monitoring, automation, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Administration :

- Administer and manage DataStax Enterprise (DSE) Cassandra clusters in production environments.

- Perform DSE platform health checks and proactively monitor cluster performance and availability.

- Execute capacity planning, cluster sizing, and performance tuning activities.

- Manage daily DSE operations, including routine maintenance, patches, upgrades, and version migrations.

- Create, maintain, and enhance DSE operational runbooks to ensure consistency and standardization.

- Monitor and optimize cluster resource utilization to support business growth.

Performance & Troubleshooting :

- Investigate production issues, including query timeouts, latency, and cluster performance degradation.

- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Evaluate workload distribution and recommend performance optimization strategies.

- Support database performance tuning and collaborate with application teams to resolve database-related issues.

Automation & Operations :

- Automate routine DBA activities using Ansible playbooks and Shell/Python scripting.

- Develop scripts to simplify operational tasks, maintenance, monitoring, and reporting.

- Support database backup, repair, restore, and disaster recovery activities.

Monitoring & Search :

- Configure and maintain monitoring dashboards using Grafana, Prometheus, and DSE OpsCenter.

- Administer and support DSE Search (Solr) integration.

- Implement and maintain Storage-Attached Indexing (SAI) for optimized query performance.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 7+ years of hands-on experience as a Cassandra DBA.

- Strong experience administering Apache Cassandra, preferably DataStax Enterprise (DSE).

- Expertise in Cassandra cluster administration, health monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

- Hands-on experience with DSE patches, upgrades, and version migrations.

- Experience with DSE Search (Solr) and Storage-Attached Indexing (SAI).

- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in production issue resolution and root cause analysis.

- Experience creating and maintaining DSE operational runbooks.

- Strong scripting skills using Bash and/or Python.

- Experience automating infrastructure and database operations using Ansible.

- Experience with monitoring and dashboarding tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and DSE OpsCenter.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
