Role Overview :
As a Cassandra Administrator, you will serve as the backbone of our high-scale distributed data infrastructure, ensuring the seamless performance and availability of our mission-critical database clusters. You will work closely with software engineering teams, DevOps architects, and site reliability engineers to design robust data models, optimize complex queries, and manage multi-datacenter deployments. By maintaining the integrity and scalability of our Cassandra environment, you directly influence the latency and reliability of the services our customers interact with daily, playing a pivotal role in supporting our business's rapid growth and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and maintain high-availability Cassandra clusters to ensure zero-downtime operations for our global user base.
- Optimize data modeling and compaction strategies to improve read/write throughput and reduce latency for high-traffic applications.
- Monitor cluster health and performance metrics to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks before they impact end-user experience.
- Execute seamless data migrations, upgrades, and capacity planning to support the evolving storage requirements of our product roadmap.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term architectural improvements.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale Apache Cassandra clusters, including deep knowledge of gossip protocols, snitch configurations, and consistency levels.
- Proven ability to write and tune complex CQL queries and perform data modeling that aligns with application-specific access patterns.
- Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting to automate routine maintenance and cluster management tasks.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical constraints and architectural trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- A collaborative mindset that thrives in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment, balancing independent deep-work with team-based incident response.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, providing a strong foundation in distributed systems and database theory.
