Lead Alteryx Developer

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Alteryx Developer with proven expertise in data automation, advanced SQL, and financial domain analytics. This role requires end-to-end ownership of Alteryx workflow architecture, design, and deployment, ensuring robust data quality, governance, and compliance. The candidate will act as a technical leader and SME, working closely with finance, risk, and compliance teams to deliver automated reporting, scalable data pipelines, and actionable financial insights.

Key Responsibilities :

Alteryx Workflow Leadership :

- Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex, enterprise-grade Alteryx workflows for financial data ingestion, transformation, and reporting.

- Develop reusable macros, analytic apps, and workflows ensuring scalability and maintainability.

- Implement scheduling, monitoring, and alerting for Alteryx Server environments.

Data Architecture & Engineering :

- Architect and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines integrating Alteryx, SQL databases, and Excel models.

- Optimize workflows for performance, parallel processing, and minimal compute cost.

- Manage data lineage, version control, and workflow deployment across dev/test/prod environments.

Financial Data Analytics :

- Work closely with finance, FP&A, and risk teams to automate budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and compliance reporting.

- Build automated solutions for P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and regulatory reporting (SOX, IFRS, GAAP).

- Support internal & external audits through traceable data pipelines and audit-ready documentation.

Governance & Best Practices :

- Establish coding standards, peer reviews, and reusable templates for Alteryx development.

- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention in financial reporting.

- Maintain robust data governance, security, and compliance controls.

Leadership & Mentoring :

- Mentor junior developers and analysts on Alteryx best practices, SQL optimization, and data management.

- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams for infrastructure and automation enhancements.

- Present technical solutions and data-driven insights to senior stakeholders in business-friendly language.

Technical Skills Required :

Alteryx :

- Advanced expertise in Alteryx Designer & Server, including macros, analytic apps, APIs, scheduling, and error handling.

- Strong understanding of Alteryx Gallery administration, workflow optimization, and governance.

SQL & Data Engineering :

- Advanced SQL (complex queries, stored procedures, indexing, performance tuning).

- Experience with relational databases : SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift, or Teradata.

- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.

Excel & Reporting Tools :

- Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, Array formulas).

- Integration of Alteryx workflows with Excel-based financial models.

- Exposure to visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, Qlik (preferred).

Version Control & Automation :

- Experience with Git, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps for workflow versioning.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Alteryx workflows.

- Basic scripting knowledge in Python, R, or PowerShell (advantageous).

Stakeholder Management & Business Skills :

- Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical workflows.

- Proven track record in stakeholder engagement across finance, compliance, risk, and business operations.

- Skilled in requirement gathering, workshops, and technical documentation.

- Strong communication and presentation skills for executive-level reporting.

Domain Expertise :

- Deep understanding of financial data & reporting processes :

- Budgeting, Forecasting, Variance Analysis, P&L, Balance Sheet Management.

- Regulatory frameworks : SOX, IFRS, GAAP, Basel, etc.

- Experience in financial services, banking, insurance, or corporate finance environments.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field.

- 6+ years of experience in data analytics / financial data engineering, with at least 3+ years in a senior or lead role.

- Alteryx Certifications (Core, Advanced, Server Administration) strongly preferred.

- Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
