Bitcot - Roku Developer

Description : We are seeking an experienced Roku Developer to join our engineering team and build high-quality streaming applications for our Client project. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Roku channels using BrightScript and SceneGraph, integrating APIs, ensuring seamless video playback, and optimizing app performance for a smooth user experience.

This role requires a blend of strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and an eye for clean UI/UX on the TV interface.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain Roku TV applications using BrightScript and SceneGraph.

- Work closely with backend engineers to integrate RESTful APIs, handle data fetching, and manage local storage efficiently.

- Implement video playback functionality using Rokus Video Player, ensuring smooth adaptive bitrate streaming (HLS/DASH).

- Integrate DRM solutions such as PlayReady, Widevine, or FairPlay and ensure content security compliance.

- Optimize application performance, memory usage, load times, and navigation latency.

- Collaborate with design and product teams to deliver intuitive and user-friendly TV experiences.

- Debug and troubleshoot issues using Rokus developer tools, logs, and testing environment.

- Ensure compliance with Roku certification standards and manage the app publishing process through the Roku Developer Dashboard.

- Integrate and test third-party SDKs such as analytics, ads (VAST, Roku Ads), and tracking tools.

- Maintain code versioning and CI/CD workflows using Git and deployment automation tools.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 2- 4 years of experience in Roku application development

- Proficiency in BrightScript and SceneGraph XML components.

- Experience with Roku SDKs, developer tools, and debugging utilities.

- Good understanding of TV UI design principles and remote-based navigation.

- Strong grasp of video streaming protocols (HLS/DASH) and DRM implementation.

- Experience with API integrations, handling JSON/XML data, and asynchronous requests.

- Solid understanding of memory management, performance tuning, and app optimization on Roku devices.

- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools.

Good to Have :

- Exposure to backend systems, CMS, or cloud platforms (AWS, Firebase).

- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes.

- Awareness of Roku publishing lifecycle and channel certification process.
