About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer with expertise in Python and FastAPI to design, develop, and optimize scalable backend systems. You will play a key role in building robust RESTful APIs, integrating databases, managing caching layers, and ensuring high performance and reliability across services.

Youll collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver secure, efficient, and maintainable backend solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Backend Development & Architecture :

- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend microservices using Python (FastAPI).

- Architect scalable, high-performance systems that can handle real-time data operations.

- Implement asynchronous programming patterns for efficient I/O and concurrency in Python.

- Develop and manage database schemas, queries, and transactions using PostgreSQL/MySQL.

- Utilize Redis for caching, session management, and message brokering to enhance performance.

- Integrate external APIs and third-party services into the backend ecosystem.

System Reliability & Optimization :

- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.

- Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure software quality.

- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to maintain system health.

- Optimize backend performance through query tuning, caching, and load balancing.

Collaboration & Workflow :

- Work closely with frontend developers to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration.

- Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD, containerization, and deployment pipelines.

- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

- Document APIs, workflows, and technical decisions clearly for internal teams.

Qualifications :

Education :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience :

- 4 to 6 years of experience in backend development using Python.

- Proven experience building RESTful APIs and scalable backend systems.

- Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Redis, and PostgreSQL/MySQL.

Technical Skills :

- Python (expert-level), familiarity with async/await, asyncio, etc.

- FastAPI (preferred), Flask, or Django.

- Strong SQL knowledge with PostgreSQL or MySQL; understanding of database design, indexing, and optimization.

- Experience using Redis for caching, pub/sub, or queueing.

- Docker, Docker Compose, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).

- Git, with collaborative branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based development).

- Familiarity with pytest, unittest, or other Python testing frameworks.

- Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and REST best practices.

- Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure API development (OAuth2, JWT).
