Role Overview :
We are seeking a Backend Developer to support the enterprise-scale migration and modernization initiative for the digital platform ecosystem as part of the transition to Optimizely SaaS CMS and a modern headless architecture.
This role will focus on backend engineering, migration tooling, API integrations, content transformation, and platform interoperability across multiple legacy CMS platforms and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Node.js, API-first architectures, migration automation, and large-scale content/data migration programs.
The role requires close collaboration with frontend developers, architects, DevOps, QA, content strategists, and platform teams to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable backend services that support migration, content publishing, integrations, and go-live readiness.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead backend technical implementation activities supporting migration from legacy CMS platforms to Optimizely SaaS CMS.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and middleware using Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Build and manage RESTful APIs and GraphQL services supporting frontend applications, content delivery, and enterprise integrations.
- Develop migration utilities, automation scripts, and ETL pipelines for content, media, taxonomy, metadata, redirects, and structured assets.
- Define and implement content model mapping, schema transformation rules, and data normalization processes between source and target platforms.
- Build scalable migration workflows with validation, reconciliation, logging, rollback handling, and error reporting mechanisms.
- Support migration of multi-brand and multi-domain content structures while preserving SEO integrity, URL mappings, redirects, and content relationships.
- Integrate enterprise platforms and services including SSO, analytics, search, DAM, CRM, marketing automation, and external APIs.
- Support integration initiatives involving platforms such as Coveo, Marketo, Pardot, Okta, Matomo, and enterprise DAM solutions.
- Troubleshoot migration and integration issues related to content hierarchy, localization, taxonomy, media assets, workflows, permissions, and publishing dependencies.
- Support launch readiness, cutover planning, production migration execution, and post-launch stabilization activities.
- Ensure backend systems adhere to enterprise standards for security, scalability, observability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, solution architects, DevOps, QA, and content operations teams throughout the SDLC.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- 4+ years of backend development experience using Node.js, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
- Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs and GraphQL services.
- Hands-on experience with CMS migration, data transformation, or platform modernization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of headless CMS architecture and API-first application design.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured content transformation workflows using JSON and automation scripting.
- Experience building batch processing, import/export, validation, and migration automation pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Familiarity with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols including OAuth, JWT, SSO, and identity integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in distributed application environments.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Optimizely SaaS CMS, DXP, or enterprise headless CMS implementations.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale website or multi-brand platform migrations.
- Familiarity with enterprise search platforms such as Coveo.
- Understanding of SEO migration strategies including redirects, canonicalization, URL mapping, and metadata preservation.
- Experience integrating analytics, DAM, personalization, or marketing automation platforms.
- Familiarity with content publishing workflows and governance models in enterprise digital ecosystems.
- Exposure to composable DXP or microservices-based architectures.
