About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Backend Architect to design and drive scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems for our products/platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, cloud technologies, database design, and API frameworks, along with the ability to mentor engineering teams and influence technical strategy.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define and own the overall backend architecture strategy aligned with business and product goals.

- Design scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.

- Architect microservices-based applications, event-driven systems, and API ecosystems.

- Establish architecture standards, coding guidelines, and technical best practices.

- Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools for backend development.

- Drive cloud-native architecture adoption across platforms.

- Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and system design decisions.

- Collaborate with engineering leadership on long-term technical roadmap planning.

- Guide teams in building high-quality backend services and integrations.

- Review code, optimize system performance, and troubleshoot critical production issues.

- Ensure backend systems meet scalability, availability, and latency requirements.

- Support CI/CD implementation, DevOps practices, and release automation.

- Design efficient database schemas and data models.

- Optimize SQL and NoSQL databases for performance and scalability.

- Implement caching strategies, data partitioning, and replication mechanisms.

- Ensure system security, authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices.

- Implement API security, encryption, audit logging, and compliance requirements.

- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, DevOps, Security, and frontend teams.

- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and architectural decisions.

- Mentor senior engineers and development teams on architecture principles.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with 3+ years in architecture roles.

- Strong experience in backend technologies such as :

a. Java, Spring Boot

b. Node.js

c. Python

d. Go / Golang

e. .NET Core

- Expertise in Microservices Architecture, REST APIs, GraphQL, and API Gateway patterns.

- Strong knowledge of databases :

a. SQL : MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle

b. NoSQL : MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB

- Experience with cloud platforms : AWS / Azure / GCP

- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration

- Experience with messaging/event systems : Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Pub/Sub

- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability tools
