AWS API Gateway & KONG Migration Expert

Job Summary : We are looking for a skilled API Engineer to join our team and help design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure RESTful APIs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HTTP protocols, authentication mechanisms, and experience working with API management tools.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs.

- Ensure high performance, security, and responsiveness of API services.

- Work closely with frontend and backend teams to integrate APIs.

- Handle API-related concerns such as versioning, rate limiting, error handling, and throttling.

- Implement and manage authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and API keys.

- Monitor API performance and troubleshoot issues.

- Document API endpoints and create specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI.

- Collaborate in defining best practices and standards for API development.

Required Skills & Experience :

- Strong understanding of REST architecture and principles.

- AWS is mandatory

- Proficiency in HTTP, JSON, XML, request/response headers, and status codes.

- Hands-on experience with OAuth2, JWT tokens, API keys, and securing APIs.

- Familiarity with API management tools such as Kong, AWS API Gateway, or similar.

- Experience in API lifecycle management (design, deployment, versioning, deprecation).

- Knowledge of rate limiting, caching, and logging in an API environment.

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools.

Desire/Nice to Have skills :

- Java development is nice to have

Must have :

- AWS API Gateway background and KONG experience

- Need senior resource with API migration experience- >KONG API to AWS APi gateway

- Exp in how to integrate API gateway workflow in AWS

- CICD, terraform.

- Any programming language will work (Java/Node/Python)

Good to have : EKS

- Can write XSLT's and do the automations
