Experience:

12 to 17 Years

Location:

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Job Description:

Summary: This is a player-coach leadership role responsible for designing, engineering, and operating Cloud Management Platform (CMP) capabilities end-to-end including platform integrations, self-service provisioning, DevOps pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, governance controls, and platform experience. The role will remain hands-on while leading and mentoring a cross-functional CMP engineering team and implementation partners, contributing directly to solution design, platform engineering, automation, and critical implementation decisions to deliver secure, policy-driven cloud operations, measurable operational efficiency, cost optimization, and scalable platform adoption across the enterprise in regulated environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Backend & API Integration (Hands-on):

- Design and implement CMP platform integrations using REST APIs/SDKs (e.g., CloudBolt, Morpheus, vRealize Automation).

- Build microservices and integration adapters to connect CMP with ITSM (ServiceNow/Jira), CMDB, secrets management (Vault/KMS), event buses (Kafka/SNS), and FinOps tooling.

- Develop reusable Python/PowerShell/Bash libraries for provisioning, post-config, tagging, and lifecycle actions.

- Implement policy-as-code (tagging, RBAC, quota, approvals) enforceable through workflows and API gateways.

- Own authentication & authorization patterns (OIDC/SAML, SCIM, service principals) and secure inbound/outbound integrations.

- Establish reusable integration standards, API governance, and reference patterns across CMP modules and enterprise platforms.

2. DevOps, IaC & Platform Engineering (Hands-on):

- Standardize Infrastructure as Code: author Terraform/CloudFormation modules and publish them via CMP catalogs.

- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI) for CMP workflows, IaC modules, and versioned blueprints.

- Define engineering guardrails, release governance, and environment promotion controls to ensure scalable and compliant platform operations.

- Implement GitOps processes (branching, reviews, releases) for CMP artifacts and environment promotion.

- Integrate observability (logs/metrics/traces) for CMP workflows (Prometheus/Grafana/ELK/CloudWatch) and define SLOs/SLAs.

- Drive drift detection and remediation across cloud accounts; automate patching/hardening baselines.

- Champion cost optimization (rightsizing, scheduling, RI/SP management, budget guardrails) and FinOps reporting.

3. CMP Frontend (Catalogs, Blueprints, UX):

- Design intuitive self-service catalogs and blueprints for single-VM, multi-tier apps, Kubernetes clusters, and data services.

- Embed governance by design: tagging, ownership, chargeback/showback, approvals, and compliance checks within catalog items.

- Define user roles and journeys (developers, SREs, data teams, security) and optimize CMP UX for adoption.

- Publish documentation, run enablement sessions, and create quick-start templates and runbooks.

- Act as the primary technical authority for CMP engineering, automation and platform adoption decisions.

- Review and approve designs, PRs, and changes; manage backlog, priorities, and release cadence.

- Coordinate with Security, Network, Finance/FinOps, Compliance to align CMP outcomes to enterprise policies and regulatory needs.

4. Engineering Leadership & Co-Development:

- Lead internal CMP engineering capability development and structured knowledge transfer from implementation partners.

- Define engineering standards, reusable assets, and platform operating principles.

- Manage delivery priorities, backlog governance, and technical-decision making.

- Drive adoption and enablement across stakeholder teams.

- Establish measurable engineering outcomes, operational KPIs, and continuous improvement practices for CMP delivery.

Education:

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (mandatory).

- Masters degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or Business/Technology Management (preferred).

- Equivalent professional experience in cloud platform engineering and automation may be considered in lieu of advanced educational qualifications.

Experience:

- Minimum 12 years total experience.

- 3-5 years in CMP / Cloud Platform Engineering / Automation Leadership.

- Proven delivery of self-service CMP catalogs and end-to-end automation in multi-cloud/hybrid setups.

- Experience leading small engineering teams (28 engineers/specialists) preferred.

- Experience working in co-development, platform modernization, or enterprise transformation programs preferred.

Knowledge:

- Cloud Management Platforms (CMP): Architecture, workflows, service catalogs, governance, extensibility and operating models for CMP including exposure to platforms such as CloudBolt, Morpheus, VMware vRealize.

- Multi-Cloud & Hybrid Strategy: Design principles for private, public and hybrid cloud environments; interoperability, workload portability, and migration patterns.

- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong understanding of infrastructure as Code principles including reusable modules, version control, environment promotion, and GitOps practices using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.

- Automation & Orchestration: Workflow orchestration, policy enforcement, task sequencing, provisioning automation, and integration across CMP and enterprise platforms.

- API & Integration Patterns: RESTful API design, authentication (OAuth/OIDC), SDK usage, and integration with enterprise systems including ITSM, CMDB, and FinOps tooling.

- DevOps & CI/CD: CI/CD principles, artifact lifecycle management, automated testing, release governance and platform engineering practices.

- Cloud Security & Governance: Identify and access management, encryption, RBAC, policy-as-code, auditability, compliance controls, and secure automation practices.

- Observability and Reliability Engineering: Monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, SLO/SLA management, drift detection, and operational resilience.

- Cost Optimization & FinOps: Tagging strategies, chargeback/showback, budget governance, resource optimization, and cloud cost visibility.

- Containerization & Platform Operations: Container orchestration concepts, Kubernetes ecosystem awareness, and deployment lifecycle integration.

Skills:

- CMP Expertise: Advanced capability in designing and operating CMP platforms including service catalogs, workflows, blueprint management, and extensibility.

- API Development & Integration: Strong proficiency in RESTful API design, authentication (OAuth/OIDC), SDK integration, and building reusable integration adapters across enterprise platforms.

- Scripting & Automation: Strong hands-on programming capability in Python, PowerShell, and Bash for automation, provisioning, orchestration, and platform extensibility.

- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong hands-on experience in infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform (preferred), CloudFormation and Ansible for reusable and governed platform automation.

- DevOps & Platform Engineering: Strong hands-on experience in CI/CD implementation, release engineering, artifact lifecycle management, GitOps workflows, and platform automation.

- Cloud & Container Platforms: Strong understanding of private, public, and hybrid cloud platforms, containerization, Kubernetes ecosystem, and workload orchestration.

- Observability & Reliability Engineering: Security & Compliance: Expertise in IAM, RBAC, encryption, policy-as-code, compliance controls, secure integration patterns, and audit readiness.

- Cost Optimization & FinOps: Ability to implement cost governance, tagging standards, budget guardrails, and cloud optimization practices.
