Appian Architect - Solution Design

Job Description : Appian Architect.

Experience : 12+ years total IT experience, with 6+ years hands-on in Appian and 3+ years as an Appian Architect.

Location : Pan India (Hybrid availability).

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Appian Architect to lead the design and implementation of complex Appian-based solutions for our clients across various domains (BFSI, Healthcare, Manufacturing, etc.

You will be the technical authority, responsible for translating business requirements into scalable and high-performance architecture, ensuring best practices, and mentoring development teams across India.

Key Responsibilities :

Solution Architecture & Design :

- Lead the end-to-end architecture of Appian applications, including process models, rules, interfaces, and integrations.

- Design highly scalable, secure, and maintainable Appian solutions that meet non-functional requirements (NFRs) like performance, availability, and reliability.

- Create and own key technical deliverables : Architecture Blueprints, High-Level & Low-Level Design (HLD/LLD) documents, Integration Specifications.

- Define and govern best practices for Appian development, deployment, and DevOps processes.

Technical Leadership :

- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders, presenting and defending architectural decisions.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a distributed team of Appian developers across India.

- Lead code and design reviews to ensure adherence to architecture and quality standards.

- Evaluate new Appian features and plugins and assess their applicability to ongoing and future projects.

Development & Implementation :

- Hands-on development of complex Appian components, including advanced process models, CDTs, SAIL forms, and complex expression rules.

- Architect and implement complex integrations with external systems using Web APIs, REST, SOAP, and JDBC connections.

- Optimize application performance through tuning, caching strategies, and efficient data model design.

Pre-Sales & Governance :

- Collaborate with the business development team in pre-sales activities : solution envisioning, effort estimation, drafting proposals, and client demonstrations.

- Govern the technical quality of the project, ensuring compliance with established architecture principles and standards.

- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Must-Have :

- Appian Lead Level 2 or Level 3 Certification is mandatory.

- 6+ years of hands-on experience in designing and developing applications on the Appian platform.

- 3+ years of proven experience in an Appian Architect role, leading large-scale implementations.

- Deep expertise in Appian components : Process Models, SAIL, CDTs, Records, Sites, Web APIs, Forge Components, and Admin Console.

- Strong experience in designing and implementing integrations (REST, SOAP, JDBC).

- Proficient in SQL and database design principles (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).

- Excellent understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and software design patterns.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Good-to-Have :

- Experience with other low-code platforms (e.g., OutSystems, Mendix, Pega).

- Knowledge of DevOps tools for Appian (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Git).

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and Appian deployments on cloud.

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Knowledge of Java.
