Description :

The Service Manager is responsible for end-to-end service delivery, operational stability, and continuous improvement of Microsoft Windows Server and iSeries(AS400) platforms within an enterprise environment.

The role ensures high availability, performance, security, and compliance of Windows Servers and iSeries services while meeting agreed SLAs, OLAs, and business expectations.

The Service Manager acts as the single point of accountability for Windows Server and iSeries services, coordinating across infrastructure, application, vendors, and business stakeholders, while driving ITIL-aligned processes, risk reduction, automation, and cost optimization.

Primary Skills :

Technical & Platform Expertise :

- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and iSeries(AS400) architecture.

Understanding of :

- Windows Server and iSeries OS administration concepts.

- Backup, recovery, HA/DR (e.g., MIMIX, PowerHA).

- Performance monitoring and capacity planning.

- Familiarity with iSeries integration with distributed systems, databases, and applications.

- Awareness of security, audit, and compliance requirements on Windows Server and iSeries.

IT Service Management (ITSM) Skills :

- Strong knowledge of ITIL processes, especially:

- Experience managing SLAs, KPIs, service reviews, and operational reporting.

- Ability to drive incident reduction, MTTR improvement, and service stability.

- Experience working with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, etc.).

Service Delivery & Operations Management :

- End-to-end service ownership mindset.

- Experience managing 24x7 production environments.

- Strong risk, issue, and dependency management.

- Vendor and third-party service management.

- Coordination during major incidents, DR tests, and audits.

Continuous Improvement & Automation :

- Drive operational excellence and standardization.

- Identify and implement automation opportunities.

- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and observability tools.

- Focus on cost optimization, technical debt reduction, and modernization.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management :

- Strong people management and team leadership skills.

- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (Apps, DB, Network, Security).

- Effective communication with business stakeholders and senior management.

- Experience in governance forums, service reviews and escalations.

Soft Skills & Professional Attributes :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Calm and decisive under pressure (especially during major incidents).

- Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Qualifications :

- University Graduate degree (mandatory).

- Knowledge of ITSM tools like Service Now.

- Prior experience in managing Incidents and Service Requests in an IT infrastructure environment.

- Confident to interact with the IT Managers, Service Desks and Service Providers in the Region.

- Excellent command over written and spoken English (mandatory).

- ITIL Foundation certification (preferred).

- A fundamental grasp of AI tools will be an added benefit.
