Total Experience: 3 - 7 years

Key Responsibilities:

- Administer and support PostgreSQL databases and clusters in production environments.

- Manage PostgreSQL users, roles, permissions, database files, and configurations.

- Perform routine database maintenance, monitoring, and health checks.

- Manage and monitor database backups and recovery processes.

- Troubleshoot database-related incidents and provide L2 support within defined SLAs.

- Perform query tuning and performance optimization.

- Analyze and optimize indexes to improve database performance.

- Fine-tune PostgreSQL configuration parameters based on workload and performance requirements.

- Support PostgreSQL database migrations and version upgrades as required.

- Participate in DC/DR drills and validate database recovery and operational procedures.

- Provide database support during weekend mock drills and planned maintenance activities.

- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring database issues and recommend corrective actions.

- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database support runbooks.

- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and other technical teams to resolve database-related issues.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

PostgreSQL Administration:

- 3+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL DBA experience.

- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database and cluster administration.

- Experience managing users, roles, permissions, database files, and configurations.

- Good understanding of PostgreSQL backup, restore, and recovery mechanisms.

- Experience with routine database maintenance and monitoring.

Performance Tuning:

- Hands-on experience with SQL/query performance tuning.

- Knowledge of index optimization and execution plans.

- Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and make appropriate PostgreSQL configuration adjustments.

Security & Connectivity:

- Working knowledge of Foreign Data Wrappers (FDW).

- Knowledge of SSL and TLS authentication.

- Experience with passwordless authentication and secure database connectivity.

- Understanding of PostgreSQL security, roles, privileges, and authentication mechanisms.

Migration & Disaster Recovery:

- Experience supporting PostgreSQL migrations and upgrades.

- Knowledge of DC/DR environments and disaster recovery procedures.

- Ability to participate in DC/DR drills, weekend mock activities, and planned maintenance exercises.
