Affine - Lead Full Stack Software Developer

Job Description :

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Full Stack Software Developer to join our Loyalty Platform engineering team. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on building and maintaining scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices that power reward earn/burn calculations, event-driven systems, and loyalty transaction processing.

The role involves developing high-performance backend systems while also contributing to React/TypeScript-based frontend applications that deliver loyalty experiences to travelers across multiple platforms. This position requires strong expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, cloud-native applications, and modern frontend development.

The ideal candidate should be self-driven, comfortable working in agile product environments, and capable of owning services end-to-end including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x

- Build robust APIs and event-driven systems for loyalty earn/burn workflows and transaction processing

- Develop and optimize PostgreSQL queries using JOOQ for type-safe SQL operations

- Work with Apache Kafka for real-time event streaming, message processing, and asynchronous workflows

- Implement Kafka best practices including Avro serialization, Schema Registry usage, retry handling, and DLQ patterns

- Integrate and manage AWS messaging services including SQS and SNS

- Design and implement caching strategies using Redis

- Build secure and scalable REST APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger standards

- Participate in system design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making

- Ensure code quality through unit testing, component testing, and automated CI/CD pipelines

- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to monitoring, logging, and observability initiatives using Datadog and Splunk

- Optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance

Backend Development (Primary Focus ~70%) :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x

- Build robust APIs and event-driven systems for loyalty earn/burn workflows and transaction processing

- Develop and optimize PostgreSQL queries using JOOQ for type-safe SQL operations

- Work with Apache Kafka for real-time event streaming, message processing, and asynchronous workflows

- Implement Kafka best practices including Avro serialization, Schema Registry usage, retry handling, and DLQ patterns

- Work with component-based architecture, React Hooks, and state management libraries

- Consume GraphQL APIs and integrate frontend applications with backend services

- Collaborate with product and UX teams to deliver seamless user experiences

- Maintain frontend package dependencies using npm or pnpm

Required Technical Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience in Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x

- Expertise in Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and JOOQ

- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka including :

i. Avro

ii. Schema Registry

iii. Consumer Groups

iv. Retry & DLQ Patterns

- Experience with AWS SQS and SNS

- Familiarity with npm/pnpm package management

Monitoring & DevOps :

- Experience with Datadog, Splunk, or similar monitoring/logging tools

- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployments is a plus

- Understanding of production support and incident management processes

Preferred Skills :

- Experience working on loyalty, rewards, fintech, or high-transaction platforms

- Exposure to AWS cloud services and distributed event-driven systems

- Understanding of scalable system design and performance optimization

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

- Experience in high-availability and fault-tolerant systems

Eligibility Criteria :

- Experience : 8 to 10 Years

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred
