ZopSmart - Software Development Engineer II - DevOps

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer (SDE-2) who can blend software engineering expertise with deep infrastructure knowledge across AWS and GCP.

You'll play a key role in designing and building internal tools, managing large-scale cloud infrastructure, and optimizing spend across compute, storage, and network layers.

This is a code-first DevOps role, with Go as the primary language.

You'll lead efforts in cost optimization, cloud operations, and infrastructure scalability, while ensuring our systems are secure, compliant, and production-grade.

Responsibilities :

- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, including deep expertise in IAM, VPC, VM management, Cloud Billing APIs, Budgets, and Cost Explorer.

- Develop and maintain internal infrastructure tools and automation exclusively in Go (not scripting).

- Optimize Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE) using both out-of-the-box and custom autoscalers written in Go.

- Create custom cloud billing aggregators and cost dashboards that unify and visualize cost data from AWS and GCP.

- Manage DNS, load balancers, and TLS certificates in high-availability production environments.

- Implement secure, compliant infrastructure in line with SOC2 ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS standards.

- Support on-call rotations and debug complex infrastructure, networking, or production issues.

- Advise and collaborate with teams to make cost-aware architecture and design decisions.

- Build or integrate tools to optimize observability and logging costs across services.

Requirements :

- Strong programming experience in Go (not just scripting).

- Deep hands-on experience with AWS and GCP services.

- Proven expertise with Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Solid understanding of networking and security, particularly in cloud-native environments.

- Familiarity with cloud cost optimization techniques across compute, storage, and networking.

- Ability to quickly triage DNS and infrastructure-related issues.

- A bias for automation, reliability, and reducing operational toil.

- Willingness to take part in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents.

Nice To Have :

- Contributions to open-source DevOps/Kubernetes tools.

- Experience building or operating an Internal Developer Platform (IDP).

- Background or expertise in cloud cost modeling or forecasting.
