Job Title : OS Systems Programmer.
Location : Bangalore.
Experience : 10-12 years.
Role Overview :
This role ensures system reliability, performance, and compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards while supporting a global operations environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage and maintain IBM Z hardware, including server configurations, DS8K disk arrays, TS7700 virtual tape systems, and Brocade FICON & expansion switches.
- Support z/OS systems software installation, customization, and maintenance using SMP/E.
- Develop and maintain PROCs, JCLs, ISPF dialogs, and panels.
- Oversee USS structures, permissions, and TCP/IP configurations, including OSPF, FTP, SMTP, and ICMP.
- Manage digital certificates, RACF standards, and keyrings ensuring system security and compliance (SOX, PCI, GDPR).
- Conduct packet trace collection and diagnostics for system issue resolution.
- Manage storage systems using DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, TLMS, CA-Spool, CA-Deliver, CA1, and related tools.
- Coordinate with global operations teams to ensure uptime, performance, and adherence to SLAs.
- Generate and maintain technical documentation, audit reports, and operational procedures.
Hardware :
Skills & Expertise Required :
- IBM Z servers, IBM DS8K disk arrays, IBM TS7700 virtual tape systems.
- Brocade FICON & Expansion switches.
Networking :
- SNA/APPN, FICON MPC, XCF, EE/EBN.
- TCP/IP stack components (OSPF, FTP, SMTP, ICMP).
- Firewall, DNS, proxy, and digital certificate management.
Software :
- z/OS, JES2/NJE, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, RMF, WLM, RACF, SMP/E, USS/NFS.
- Storage tools : DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, CA-Spool, CA-Balancing, CA-Deliver, TLMS, CA1.
- Monitoring and management : Omegamon Suite, Guardium, Healthchecker, Thruput Manager.
- Development tools : COBOL, REXX, EasyTrieve, File-Aid, Xpediter, Abend-Aid.
- Security : Vanguard RACF Admin, IBM Multi-Factor Authentication.
Other Tools :
- ChangeMan, MXG, PKZIP, Syncsort, TPX, OPSMVS, ESP.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in z/OS systems programming and administration.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and automation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across global teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools for documentation and reporting.
