DevOps / Platform Automation Engineer

Shift : 2 pm - 11 pm

PURPOSE : Automate build, test, release, and deployment processes across the modern data and analytics platform.

Role Summary :

The DevOps / Platform Automation Engineer is responsible for creating the automation foundation required for fast, controlled, and repeatable delivery. This role enables CI/CD pipelines, environment promotion, release controls, automated testing, and operational tooling across Snowflake, dbt, Sigma, and associated platform components. The role is essential to reducing manual deployment risk and supporting an AI-accelerated engineering model with proper controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for data, transformation, and reporting assets.

- Automate deployment processes for dbt, Snowflake objects, Sigma content, and configuration changes.

- Establish release controls, approval gates, rollback patterns, and promotion workflows.

- Integrate automated testing, code quality checks, and security scans into delivery pipelines.

- Support developer productivity through environment setup, branching workflows, and deployment tooling.

- Monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot deployment or automation issues.

- Manage Terraform state and pipelines for Snowflake and AWS infrastructure - ensure all resources are tracked and changes are peer-reviewed

- Build the secrets management architecture : AWS Secrets Manager / HashiCorp Vault integration for Snowflake credentials, Fivetran API keys, and Sigma service accounts

- Implement environment promotion workflows : dev ? staging ? prod with automated validation gates at each transition

- Configure branch protection rules, code owners, and required reviewer policies in GitHub across all project repositories

- Build and maintain deployment runbooks and rollback procedures for all platform components

- Monitor platform health : Snowflake pipeline latency, dbt job run times, Fivetran sync durations and set up alerting thresholds

- Support the cutover runbook automation scripting pre-cutover validation checks and post-cutover smoke tests

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :

- 4+ years in DevOps or platform engineering with experience supporting data platform workloads

- Strong experience in DevOps, automation, and CI/CD for cloud-based data platforms.

- Experience supporting Snowflake, dbt, cloud integrations, and analytics deployments.

- Familiarity with infrastructure automation, scripting, source control, and release management.

- Understanding of secrets management, access controls, and deployment governance.

- AWS fundamentals : IAM roles, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and VPC concepts

NICE TO HAVE :

- Experience with Snowflake Terraform provider (snowflake-labs/snowflake)

- Knowledge of dbt project repository structure and how to configure multi-environment dbt profiles

- Familiarity with DataOps practices and data observability tools (g Monte Carlo, Elementary)
