About the role :

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll leverage your extensive experience and technical expertise to design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and align with Woolworths' business objectives. You'll play a key role in architectural decisions, champion best practices, mentor associate engineers, and contribute to a culture of innovation and technical excellence.

What you'll do :

- Lead Software Development Initiatives : Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex and high-impact software solutions, collaborating closely with other engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into exceptional user experiences.

- Architect & Build Scalable Solutions : Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performing software solutions, adhering to best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.

- Champion Code Quality & Best Practices : Champion code quality, maintainability, and testability through code reviews, automated testing, and the adoption of best practices. Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence.

- Drive Innovation & Experimentation : Stay abreast of the latest software development trends, technologies, and best practices. Explore and experiment with new technologies and approaches to continuously improve the quality, performance, and capabilities of our software solutions.

- Collaborate & Mentor : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment and a smooth development process. Mentor and guide junior software engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them grow and develop their skills.

- Quality Assurance : Full ownership of product quality by writing and executing all unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

What you'll bring :

- As a Senior Software Engineer, you will need 7+ years of experience and a proven portfolio of shipped applications, demonstrating the following skillset :

- Cloud-Native Expertise : Hands-on experience designing and deploying solutions on major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure), with a strong understanding of cloud-native services, containerization, and event streaming technologies (e.g., Pub/Sub).

- Event-Driven Systems and Architecture : Demonstrated expertise in event-driven systems and architecture, with excellent knowledge of distributed systems, messaging systems, event brokers, and eventual consistency.

- Expert Software Developer : Deep understanding of software development, design patterns, and best practices. Proficient in .Net, C#, and relevant frameworks.

- Agentic Engineering : Experience leveraging AI coding agents and agentic development workflows to accelerate delivery and enhance engineering productivity. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- Experience leading and mentoring other software engineers.

- Deep understanding of software development methodologies, architectural patterns, and best practices.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

- Deep understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices. You are proficient in multiple programming languages and have extensive experience working with relevant frameworks, tools, and technologies.

- Passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest software development trends, technologies, and best practices. Eager to learn new skills, experiment with new technologies, and continuously expand own knowledge base.
