Software Engineer III Data Platform Job Description.

Operating at the intersection of data engineering, platform scalability, and automation, we develop frameworks, orchestration tools, and self-service environments that streamline data product delivery.

With the integration of Generative AI and intelligent automation, were redefining how data platforms can accelerate insight generation and unlock measurable value across Wayfairs ecosystem.

What Youll Do :

- Design and deliver scalable solutions for complex data platform challenges including data ingestion pipelines, orchestration layers, and developer tooling with minimal oversight.

- Work across a modern data tech stack: GCP BigQuery, Airflow, Dataflow, Terraform, and other platform components that support large-scale batch and streaming data processing.

- Architect and implement reliable and well-tested platform services that improve the developer and tester experience for data applications.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build self-service testing and deployment frameworks that reduce friction for data developers.

- Conduct technical design and code reviews to ensure maintainable, performant, and secure solutions across data systems.

- Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to identify gaps in our data platform ecosystem, influence roadmaps, and drive platform modernization efforts.

- Mentor and guide other engineers in data platform design, reliability engineering, and best practices around data quality and observability.

- Promote a culture of AI-first engineering, where automation, experimentation, and creativity drive continuous improvements in performance, scalability, and insight generation.
