Role Overview :

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and architect, driving the design and implementation of highly scalable systems that support Walmart's global operations. You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, working closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust, high-performance technical solutions. Your work will directly influence the reliability and efficiency of platforms used by millions, setting the standard for engineering excellence and technical innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities :

- Architect and design large-scale distributed systems that ensure high availability, low latency, and seamless performance for global retail platforms.

- Lead the technical roadmap for critical product features, ensuring alignment between engineering initiatives and long-term business objectives.

- Mentor senior and lead engineers by fostering a culture of technical rigor, code quality, and continuous improvement through design reviews and knowledge sharing.

- Resolve complex production bottlenecks and system-wide performance issues to maintain operational stability across the technology stack.

- Collaborate with global stakeholders to identify emerging technology trends and integrate them into the existing ecosystem to maintain a competitive edge.

- Define and enforce engineering best practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and security protocols, to ensure the integrity of the software development lifecycle.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in designing and scaling distributed systems, microservices architectures, and cloud-native applications in a high-traffic environment.

- Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, with a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.

- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making at the leadership level.

- Strong track record of leading large-scale technical projects from conception to deployment, managing dependencies across multiple teams.

- Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment in Bangalore, demonstrating self-motivation and the capacity to drive results in a global, matrixed organization.

- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, complemented by 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in software engineering and system architecture.
