Backend Developer

Role Overview :

We are seeking a seasoned Backend Developer with strong experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications and services. The role requires strong programming fundamentals, hands-on experience with modern backend technologies, API development, databases, microservices, and cloud environments.

Experience or exposure to data engineering is a significant advantage, as the role involves working with data-centric systems, analytics platforms, and data-intensive applications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and applications.

- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and web services for internal and external applications.

- Build and maintain microservices-based architectures and ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.

- Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including database design, queries, optimization, and performance tuning.

- Implement secure, reliable, and high-performance backend solutions.

- Integrate applications with third-party systems, services, and APIs.

- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.

- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture/design decisions.

- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Data Engineering, and other technical teams throughout the development lifecycle.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and application monitoring.

- Maintain clear technical documentation for backend services and APIs.

Required Skills :

- Strong hands-on backend development experience using Java (preferrable), Python, or Node.js.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices, and web services.

- Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

- Good understanding of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.

- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

- Hands-on exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.

- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Strong understanding of application scalability, performance optimization, security, and system design.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Good-to-Have Data Engineering Exposure :

- Experience or exposure to ETL/data pipelines.

- Familiarity with Kafka, batch processing, or stream processing.

- Understanding of data lakes and data warehouses, including Snowflake or open-source platforms.

- Experience working with real-time data flows and event-driven architectures.

- Basic understanding of data modelling and analytics platforms.

- Experience integrating backend services with data/analytics applications.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 6+ years of professional experience in backend development.

- Proven experience building and maintaining scalable, production-grade backend applications and services.

- Experience working with large-scale systems and distributed/microservices architectures.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
