Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Interoperability Test Engineer to define, execute, and own end-to-end interoperability (IOP) validation for client and server platforms.
The role involves building comprehensive test strategies, managing device compatibility matrices, driving execution across multiple test benches, and ensuring high-quality platform readiness through structured validation and release gating.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PC architecture, system/platform validation, and cross-device interoperability testing, along with solid program management and stakeholder communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Interoperability Strategy & Planning
- Define and maintain the Interoperability (IOP) test strategy, including coverage maps, test plans, and execution phases.
- Develop and manage device compatibility matrices using QVL/QDL methodologies.
- Establish validation scope across platforms, peripherals, and configurations.
Test Execution & Delivery
- Own test execution planning, including schedules, resource allocation, and test bench management.
- Drive parallel test execution to maximize coverage, throughput, and efficiency.
- Ensure timely completion of test milestones aligned with platform and release timelines.
Platform & System Validation
- Perform interoperability validation across client/server PC platforms and connected devices.
- Validate functionality across firmware, OS, drivers, and hardware components.
- Identify, triage, and track interoperability issues through closure.
Defect Management & Release Readiness
- Manage the defect lifecycle using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Support release gating decisions by providing risk assessments and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with engineering, BIOS, driver, silicon, and OEM/ODM teams to resolve issues.
Program & Stakeholder Management
- Track dependencies, risks, and execution status across multiple stakeholders.
- Provide clear status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
- Proactively escalate risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- 28+ years of experience in system/platform validation, interoperability testing, or silicon/platform QA.
- Strong understanding of PC architecture, including :
- UEFI & ACPI
- PCIe
- USB & Type-C / Power Delivery
- NVMe storage
- Graphics & display stack
- Networking subsystems
- Experience validating hardwaresoftware interactions across firmware, OS, and drivers.
Tools & Process :
- Hands-on experience with defect tracking and test management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with structured test methodologies, release gating, and quality metrics.
Program & Soft Skills :
- Strong program management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and dependency tracking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to articulate technical risks clearly and support data-driven decisions at leadership level.
