As a Senior Database administrator you will be working in a maturing agile team, following Scrum/Kanban practices and responsible for maintaining high availability on all current and legacy database technologies, whilst collaborating with the various teams to review designs and potential to be involved in supporting new data solutions based on Azure and other public cloud providers.


To develop and maintain CI/CD database code to support Beazley applications and IT/DBA utilities.


Demonstrate to a high standard the knowledge and ability to administer Microsoft SQL Server database servers and AlwaysOn instances in a multi datacentre and hybrid enterprise IT environment, to develop and troubleshoot PowerShell/TSQL code, SSIS packages, SSRS and PBI reports.


Common responsibilities will include database design reviews, data integrity checks, data security compliance, business continuity, database availability, enterprise database management, process and policy improvements, database performance monitoring, right sizing, incident/problem management, self-healing and automation procedures using DBA tools including schema design, stored procedures, functions, views, SSIS, SSAS, PBI and SSRS.


As normal in an IT operational environment, projects and problems may demand evening and weekend coverage.


This will be scheduled in advance as far as possible.


- instance installation and configuration, database creation and sizing.


- implement and refine Beazley database security standards, identify and report issues and

vulnerabilities and work to mitigate these, provide mechanisms to protect private, confidential,

and sensitive data.


- ensure data integrity and business continuity, participating in annual Beazley disaster

recovery testing, implement and help refine database maintenance tasks.


- performance tuning to meet or exceed agreed quality of service and database performance

targets, maintain maximum uptime and ensure high availability for business critical SQL

Servers and Hadron clusters.


- assist in incident management, problem resolution and continuous process improvement.


- follow the Beazley change control process.


- provide support to production application maintenance teams.


- configure, maintain and enhance the development, staging, UAT, packaging and maintenance database environments, with production restores and implementing appropriate security.


- maintain and publish database development standards, enforce the use of standards, best practice and change control within the teams.


- provide database support for project planning and development projects.


- develop and maintain database schemas and code using triggers, defaults, constraints, views, stored procedures, scalar and table valued functions, CLR, linked servers, openquery and service broker.


- develop reports using SSRS, jobs using SQL Agent and ETL with TSQL and C# using SSIS.


- Support and Build to CI/CD database projects using GIT/TeamCity/Octopus devops tools.


- Deliver solutions to complex technical database issues.


- Assist in the implementation of new technical initiatives, evaluate new versions, features and

tools.


- To comply with relevant IT and Beazley group procedures and policies.


- Taking an agile approach to prioritised and allocated tasks so that ceremonies run smoothly

and deliverables are met.
