Virtusa - Senior Software Development Engineer - .Net

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior .NET Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in .NET Core, REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-based application development. The role will involve designing and developing scalable backend and full-stack solutions, implementing resilient architectures, and contributing to CI/CD, monitoring, and production support.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable applications and backend services using .NET Core, .NET 6, or .NET 8.

- Design and develop robust RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise applications.

- Implement event-driven architectures and asynchronous communication patterns for distributed systems.

- Apply resilient design principles, fault-tolerance patterns, and appropriate microservices design patterns.

- Design solutions for scalability, availability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

- Develop clean, reusable, and maintainable code following object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and software design patterns.

- Work with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL and optimize queries and data-access layers.

- Integrate applications with messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka, where applicable.

- Implement application monitoring and observability using tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, testing, deployment, and release management.

- Work with source-control and DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, or equivalent platforms.

- Troubleshoot application, API, database, deployment, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

- Support applications deployed on AWS or other major cloud platforms.

- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture reviews.

- Collaborate with Architects, Developers, QA, DevOps, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.

- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, reviews, and retrospectives.

- Continuously improve application architecture, engineering practices, automation, and operational reliability.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 6 - 11 years of experience in software engineering, with strong experience in full-stack or backend development.

- Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core, preferably .NET 6 / .NET 8.

- Expert-level proficiency in C#; strong Java experience may be considered for candidates with relevant .NET exposure.

- Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.

- Strong knowledge of OOP concepts, SOLID principles, design patterns, and resilient application design.

- Experience building and supporting high-availability and scalable enterprise applications.

- Hands-on experience with at least one relational database: SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.

- Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.

- Experience with deployment tools such as Octopus Deploy or similar release-management platforms.

- Good understanding of application monitoring and observability; Grafana/Prometheus experience is preferred.

- Experience working with AWS or another major cloud platform.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
