Virtusa - Senior Java Software Engineer

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Software Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA, Microservices, REST APIs, and AWS. The role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and enterprise applications while contributing to solution design, integration, performance, security, and production support.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and J2EE.

- Design and implement microservices using Spring Boot and related Spring technologies.

- Develop secure and scalable RESTful APIs and backend services.

- Implement application security using Spring Security, authentication, authorization, and access-control mechanisms.

- Develop persistence and data-access layers using JPA/Hibernate and relational databases.

- Design and implement integrations between frontend applications, backend services, external systems, and enterprise platforms.

- Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, and CloudWatch.

- Develop event-driven and asynchronous processing solutions using messaging services and Kafka.

- Troubleshoot application, integration, performance, and production issues.

- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and resource utilization.

- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and reusable code.

- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture-related activities.

- Develop unit and integration tests.

- Support CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and production-release activities.

- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and frontend teams.

Tech Stack :

- Core Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA/Hibernate, Microservices, REST APIs, AWS (EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, CloudWatch), Kafka, Git.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 5 - 10 years of experience in Java software development.

- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design principles, and concurrency.

- Experience with relational databases and ORM-based data access.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning skills.

- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
