Virtusa - Python/GenAI Engineer

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Python + GenAI Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Python, scalable API development, LLM integration, prompt engineering, and modern AI frameworks. The role will involve designing and developing production-ready AI-enabled applications and services, integrating LLM capabilities into enterprise solutions, and building scalable APIs and intelligent workflows.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Python-based applications and backend services.

- Build production-grade RESTful APIs and microservices for AI-enabled and enterprise applications.

- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into applications using APIs, SDKs, and cloud-based AI platforms.

- Develop and optimize prompt engineering strategies to improve relevance, accuracy, consistency, and reliability of LLM outputs.

- Build AI-powered workflows and applications using modern GenAI frameworks and orchestration tools.

- Develop reusable components for LLM integration, prompt orchestration, tool usage, and AI workflows.

- Work with structured and unstructured data to support AI and LLM-based solutions.

- Collaborate with Data Engineers, AI Engineers, Architects, Product teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

- Design solutions with appropriate focus on performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.

- Develop unit and integration tests and validate AI-enabled application behavior.

- Troubleshoot application, API, integration, and AI workflow issues and perform root-cause analysis.

- Support deployment, monitoring, CI/CD, and production operations for AI-enabled applications.

- Participate in architecture and design discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.

- Stay current with developments in Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, orchestration frameworks, and enterprise AI engineering.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 7 - 10 years of experience in software engineering, backend development, data engineering, or related technology roles.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Python - mandatory.

- Strong experience building REST APIs and scalable backend services.

- Experience designing microservices and API-based solutions.

- Hands-on experience with LLM integration and Generative AI applications.

- Strong understanding of prompt engineering and LLM application development.

- Experience with modern AI frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent.

- Good understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, context management, and LLM workflows.

- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, API security, error handling, testing, and maintainable application design.

- Experience working with SQL and/or other data platforms.

- Good understanding of cloud-native development and deployment.

- Experience with Git, CI/CD, debugging, and production support.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

- Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
