Virtusa - Performance Test Engineer - JMeter/Load Testing

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Performance Test & Benchmarking Engineer with strong expertise in performance testing, workload benchmarking, load and stress testing, and performance analysis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to evaluate system scalability, reliability, throughput, and response times.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and execute performance testing and benchmarking strategies for applications, databases, and infrastructure.

- Conduct performance evaluations to assess system throughput, response time, scalability, stability, and resource utilization.

- Develop repeatable benchmarking methodologies to measure system performance under different workloads and configurations.

- Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend optimization opportunities based on test results.

- Design and execute load, stress, endurance, spike, and scalability tests.

- Collaborate with development, database, infrastructure, and architecture teams to resolve performance-related issues.

Tech Stack & Tools:

- pgbench: Database benchmarking and PostgreSQL workload performance testing.

- HammerDB: Database benchmarking, transaction processing, and workload simulation.

- Apache JMeter: Load testing, performance testing, and workload simulation.

- Custom Workload Replay: Reproducing production-like workloads to evaluate system performance.

Performance Baseline & Regression Benchmarking:

- Establish performance baselines for critical application and database workloads.

- Design and implement performance regression testing frameworks to identify performance degradation across releases.

- Conduct before-and-after performance comparisons to evaluate the impact of code changes, infrastructure upgrades, database tuning, and configuration changes.

Requirements:

- Hands-on experience with performance metrics, statistical analysis, latency percentiles, and performance regression benchmarking.

- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment and travelling to Hyderabad every alternate week.

- Ability to translate complex performance metrics into actionable technical recommendations.

- Prepare detailed performance benchmarking reports, dashboards, and test result summaries.
