Virtusa - Java Cloud Platform Engineer

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Java Cloud Platform Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and scale cloud-native backend services and supporting infrastructure. The role combines strong Java/Spring Boot development with cloud engineering, containerization, CI/CD, and platform automation to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance applications on AWS.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java microservices using Spring Boot.

- Develop and integrate robust RESTful APIs and backend services.

- Design, provision, and maintain cloud infrastructure and application environments on AWS.

- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads on Kubernetes.

- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment.

- Automate infrastructure and application deployment processes using appropriate cloud and DevOps tools.

- Monitor application and infrastructure performance and troubleshoot deployment, availability, scalability, and performance issues.

- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities across applications, infrastructure, and deployment environments.

- Optimize Java applications and cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

- Work closely with software engineers, architects, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver cloud-native solutions.

- Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices for production environments.

- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, automation, and operational processes.

Requirements :

- 5 - 10 years of experience in Java development, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot.

- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API development.

- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.

- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application deployment.

- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

- Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.

- Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

- Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools would be an advantage.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues.

- Good understanding of secure software development and cloud security practices.

- Experience with ReactJS would be an advantage.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
