Virtusa - Django Developer - Python

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Django Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Python, Django, backend development, and web application engineering. The role will involve designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable applications while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable Python web applications using Django.

- Develop robust backend services, business logic, and reusable application components.

- Build and maintain web applications and APIs that meet functional, performance, security, and scalability requirements.

- Collaborate with Product, QA, UI/UX, DevOps, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.

- Analyze existing codebases, troubleshoot defects, and implement enhancements and optimizations.

- Apply object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean coding practices to build maintainable solutions.

- Develop and maintain frontend components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as required.

- Optimize application performance, database interactions, and backend processes to improve efficiency and scalability.

- Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and deployment activities.

- Develop unit and integration tests and ensure application quality and reliability.

- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

- Work with engineering teams to improve application architecture, development standards, and operational practices.

- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

- Support large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders and distributed development teams.

- Stay current with modern Python, Django, web development, and software engineering practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 5 - 9 years of experience in software development, with strong hands-on experience in Python and Django.

- Strong understanding of Django architecture, ORM, models, views, middleware, authentication, and application development.

- Strong Python programming skills with solid knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns.

- Experience developing scalable web applications and backend services.

- Good understanding of REST APIs and web application architecture.

- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for frontend development and integration.

- Experience working with relational databases and ORM-based data access.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills.

- Experience working with Git, testing, deployment, and software development lifecycle practices.

- Strong understanding of clean code, reusable components, and maintainable application design.

- Experience working on large-scale projects with multiple technical and business stakeholders.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
