Virtusa - Data Test Engineer

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Data QA / Data Test Engineer with strong expertise in data validation, test automation, SQL, and Python. The ideal candidate will have experience testing data pipelines, validating data transformations, developing automated data tests, and collaborating with data engineering and business teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for data and analytics applications.

- Perform data validation, source-to-target testing, data reconciliation, and transformation testing.

- Develop automated test scripts and frameworks using Python to improve test coverage and reduce manual testing.

- Write complex SQL queries for data validation, backend testing, reconciliation, and defect analysis.

- Validate data pipelines, transformations, interfaces, and business rules against functional and technical requirements.

- Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of data solutions.

- Analyze test results, identify data discrepancies and defects, and work with developers/data engineers to drive resolution.

- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Developers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and define appropriate test scenarios.

- Prepare test execution reports, defect reports, and quality metrics.

- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of data testing and QA processes.

- Identify opportunities to improve test automation, data quality validation, and testing efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 6 - 12 years of experience in Data QA, Data Testing, ETL Testing, Data Warehouse Testing, or a closely related discipline.

- Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries for data validation and reconciliation.

- Strong hands-on proficiency in Python for test automation and data validation.

- Experience developing and maintaining automated data-testing frameworks/scripts.

- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, data transformations, and data reconciliation.

- Experience with source-to-target validation and testing of data movement across systems.

- Good understanding of relational databases and data warehousing concepts.

- Experience with functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.

- Strong defect management, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams on large-scale enterprise projects.

- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
