Virtusa - Automation Engineer - Playwright/Cloud Native

About the Role:

We are looking for a Cloud-Native Playwright Automation Engineer to design and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance automated testing frameworks. The role will focus on Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript, cloud-native test execution, containerization, and CI/CD integration to enable shift-left quality and faster release cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain modular Playwright automation frameworks using TypeScript or JavaScript.

- Develop automated UI, API, and end-to-end (E2E) test suites covering functional and regression scenarios.

- Containerize automated test execution using Docker and enable scalable execution across cloud and Kubernetes environments.

- Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

- Optimize test suites for parallel execution, scalability, and reduced pipeline execution time.

- Implement robust locator and selector strategies using DOM/CSS best practices to improve test reliability.

- Implement network interception, mocking, and stubbing to improve test stability and reduce test flakiness.

- Establish automated test reporting, failure analysis, and pipeline-level observability.

- Troubleshoot automation failures, identify root causes, and continuously improve framework stability and maintainability.

- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and product teams to integrate automated testing throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

- Contribute to testing best practices, coding standards, reusable components, and automation strategy.

Requirements:

- 6 - 11 years of overall experience in software testing/automation, with 3+ years of hands-on test automation experience.

- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright.

- Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.

- Strong experience building and maintaining Playwright automation frameworks.

- Hands-on experience with UI, API, and E2E testing.

- Strong understanding of Page Object Model (POM) and reusable automation framework design.

- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized test execution.

- Experience integrating automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

- Experience working with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Strong understanding of Git workflows, DOM, CSS selectors, and locator strategies.

- Experience with test reporting, debugging, failure analysis, and reducing automation flakiness.

- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, defect lifecycle, and quality engineering practices.

- Good communication and collaboration skills.
