- Create solutions and design for projects to meet the standards for technology and ensure they meet our ambitions for availability, security, resilience and performance

- Produce design options with associated costs, benefits and risks to enable investment decisions

- Work with product owners, architects, platform teams and other project colleagues to agree trade-offs between, long-term and short term goals

- Responsible for the integrity of the end-to-end solution across Platforms, including transition states used to achieve the target state

- Shape and estimate IT initiatives and feature team sprints, ensuring that component parts deliver against business outcomes

Technical Leadership :

- Provide leadership on key designs to ensure the long term strategic goals of IT are met as well as short term project needs

- Ensure design artefacts are produced to support stakeholder group for service, security, architecture and engineering

- Peer review the design artefacts of others

- Provide coaching, mentoring and training to less experienced team members as required

Design Community membership :

- Contribute to the Solution Architecture community

- Develop your technical skills to support the need to understand and exploit emerging technology trends

Risk & Controls :

- Identify, own and manage the specific key risks and/or IT controls and BP standards that you are identified as the owner and/or nominee for on iCARE or Archer

- Ensure that issues and actions associated to controls / risks are remediated in a timely manner

- Maintain appropriate records on iCARE or Archer

- Ensure that controls are sufficiently well designed and operating effectively to keep the risks that they mitigate within tolerance level

- Report and escalate the status of the relevant risks, controls and standards as appropriate

Resource Complexity :

- Accountable for working within policy and guidelines, applying technical knowledge and expertise and prioritising own use of time

Problem Solving :

- The essence of the role is project- based problem solving.

- Accountable for solving problems and dealing with difficulties in line with policy, process and other guidelines applying technical knowledge and expertise

- Depending on the nature of the specific role, problems can range from repetitive daily issues to complex technical problems requiring significant expertise

- Recommend design solutions or ideas in response to challenges faced by your project or feature team in line with policy, process and other guidelines.

- Platform Managers and Specialist

- Platform Architects and Designers

External interaction :

- Maintain liaison with suppliers and the relevant sources of technology to ensure the specialist knowledge is kept up to date.

- Role holder will be assigned to projects and initiatives of varying size and complexity, with typical timeframes ranging from 3-18 months

- Longest target completion time of tasks likely to be 3 months
