Role : Senior Software Test Engineer

About the Job :

The Senior Software Test Engineer is responsible for planning, managing, and executing comprehensive testing activities across multiple projects.

This role ensures product quality by identifying key issues, driving mitigation strategies, and supporting successful delivery of software releases.

The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that technical, functional, and security standards are consistently met.

Key Roles and Responsibilities :

Test Planning & Design :

- Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, high-level and low-level test designs for new features and product releases.

- Identify test requirements, test scenarios, and create detailed test cases based on functional and technical specifications.

Ensure coverage across functional, integration, performance, regression, security, and user acceptance testing.

Test Execution & Quality Assurance :

- Execute manual and/or automated test cases and document results.

- Identify, isolate, and report defects; verify fixes and ensure timely resolution.

- Ensure compliance of software releases through structured testing processes including FAT, OSAT, and internal QA standards.

- Maintain the highest quality work standards and drive continuous improvement of testing processes.

Project & Cross-Functional Collaboration :

- Support end-to-end delivery by working with engineering, product, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and deployment teams.

- Work on multiple projects simultaneously with varying complexity while meeting agreed timelines.

- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on test progress, risks, defects, and release readiness.

- Participate in requirements reviews, design sessions, and sprint planning to ensure testability and quality.

Product & Domain Expertise :

- Become a product expert with a deep understanding of feature behavior, architecture, integrations, and customer use cases.

- Stay updated with industry trends, testing best practices, and cybersecurity advancements.

- Support post-release validation, bug triage, and escalation management.

Operational Excellence :

- Ensure adherence to SLAs for issue triage, defect turnaround, and escalation response.

- Support configuration, setup, and validation of test environments across Windows, Linux (Ubuntu/RedHat/CentOS), and macOS. Validate and test network configurations, patches, system performance, and platform stability.

- Maintain data confidentiality, integrity, and secure handling of all test artifacts and logs.

Skills and Experience :

- Education Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- Experience At least 5 to 10 years of experience in software testing or QA engineering.

- Proven experience testing complex, high-risk systems preferably in cybersecurity, networking, or infrastructure-rich environments.

- Technical Expertise Strong understanding of testing methodologies, QA processes, risk-based testing, and defect lifecycle management.

- Experience with test management, tracking, and reporting tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, QTest, Zephyr).

- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and domains (NDR, IDS/IPS, SIEM, SOAR, Firewalls, EDR, Threat Intel) is a strong advantage.

- Hands-on experience with : Linux command line operations (disk usage, logs, performance monitoring) Basic shell scripting, vi editor, SSH/SCP, and log analysis Network fundamentals, routers/switches (Dell/HP/Cisco), routing/switching basics Databases, server systems, LAN/WAN, patch validation Automation (Preferred but not mandatory)

- Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, PyTest, Robot Framework, JMeter, or custom automation scripts. Soft Skills Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
