ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Product Engineer who can take a business problem from idea to production with minimal hand-offs.

This is not a traditional engineering role where you simply receive a PRD and implement predefined requirements. You will work directly with the Vedantu Early Learning (VEL) business team, understand real business problems, decide how they should be solved, build the solution, deploy it, measure its impact, and continuously improve it.

We are particularly interested in engineers with a Founding Engineer / Full-Stack Engineer (FDE) / 0-to-1 product engineering mindset - people who enjoy taking ambiguous problems and turning them into working products independently.

The objective is simple : BUSINESS PROBLEM - PRODUCT DECISION - BUILD - SHIP - MEASURE - IMPROVE

You will be part of Vedantu Engineering while working closely with the VEL business team.

FIRST PROJECT

Your first major project will be to automate the VEL pre-sales journey - specifically everything that happens before a sales/demo call.

You will work on building an AI-powered workflow that connects :

- AI-powered calls

- WhatsApp communication

- CRM systems

- Lead qualification and routing

- Customer data and workflows

- Automation and follow-ups

- Business dashboards and reporting

The goal is to significantly reduce manual intervention in the pre-sales process and create a scalable, measurable system that can improve lead handling, qualification, conversion, and operational efficiency.

This is an opportunity to build a business-critical product from the ground up and take it all the way to production.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

- Work directly with VEL business stakeholders to understand workflows, requirements, and problems.

- Convert loosely defined business problems into simple, scalable product and technical solutions.

- Understand the existing Vedantu product, codebase, APIs, databases, and systems before deciding whether to reuse, extend, or build something new.

- Own features end-to-end : requirement - design - development - testing - deployment - monitoring - iteration.

- Build production-grade backend systems and services primarily using Java.

- Work with existing APIs, services, databases, internal platforms, CRM systems, communication platforms, and third-party integrations.

- Build AI-powered workflows using LLMs, AI agents, APIs, and automation tools where appropriate.

- Use LLMs and AI coding tools extensively to design, code, debug, test, and ship faster.

- Write automated tests and validate your own work rather than depending entirely on a separate QA cycle.

- Instrument what you build and use production data and feedback to continuously improve the product.

- Work directly with non-technical stakeholders and make practical product and implementation decisions.

- Balance speed with engineering quality, security, maintainability, scalability, and reliability.

- Challenge unnecessary complexity and continuously look for ways to reduce the distance between a business idea and a working product.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR :

MUST HAVE :

- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.

- Strong programming fundamentals and strong proficiency in Java.

- Strong understanding of backend development, APIs, system design, and software engineering fundamentals.

- Hands-on experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.

- Experience building and shipping software used in a real production environment.

- Ability to independently take a loosely defined problem and turn it into a working solution.

- Strong ownership mindset and bias towards shipping.

- Comfortable working directly with business and non-technical stakeholders.

- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

- Comfortable using modern LLM-based development tools and coding agents as part of day-to-day engineering.

- Ability to review, test, debug, and validate AI-generated code rather than blindly accepting it.

STRONG PLUS :

- Experience as a Founding Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), Product Engineer, or Full-Stack Engineer with strong end-to-end ownership.

- Experience building 0- 1 products, internal tools, workflow automation, or business-facing applications.

- Experience owning a feature from requirement through production rather than working only on isolated development tasks.

- Strong experience with Spring Boot or similar Java backend frameworks.

- Experience with cloud infrastructure and production deployments.

- Experience with AI/LLM APIs, AI agents, automation workflows, or AI-powered products.

- Experience with tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI coding environments.

- Experience working with CRM systems, WhatsApp APIs, communication platforms, or lead-generation/presales workflows.

- Experience in a product company or fast-moving consumer technology environment.

- Exposure to B2C, EdTech, SaaS, or high-scale consumer systems.

WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT :

In a conventional product development cycle, a business requirement may pass through multiple teams before reaching an engineer and eventually making its way to production.

We want to dramatically shorten that loop. UNDERSTAND - DECIDE - BUILD - TEST - SHIP - MEASURE - IMPROVE

You will have access to the broader Vedantu Engineering team for architectural guidance and support on complex systems.

However, ownership of getting the solution from problem statement to production remains with you.

The goal is not to write more code.

The goal is to solve the right business problem and get a reliable solution into users' hands quickly.

- The pre-sales automation system becomes a reliable and scalable part of the VEL business workflow.

- You demonstrate strong end-to-end ownership across product thinking, engineering, deployment, and iteration.

- The VEL business team increasingly sees engineering as a direct problem-solving partner rather than the final stage of a long requirements process.
