VDI Architect


- Chennai

A VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining virtual desktop environments that deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions for enterprise users. This role requires deep technical expertise in virtualization technologies and strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional IT teams.


Key Responsibilities :


Design & Architecture :


- Develop VDI architecture and design specifications aligned with business requirements.


- Define standards for VDI capabilities and ensure compliance with security and operational policies.


Implementation & Support :


- Lead deployment of VDI solutions using platforms like VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.


- Provide Tier 2Tier 4 technical support for VDI environments.


Performance & Monitoring :


- Monitor VDI platforms using tools such as NetScaler, ControlUP, and ensure optimal performance.


- Troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.


Collaboration & Documentation :


- Work with network, storage, and security teams to ensure seamless integration.


- Create and maintain SOPs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.


Training & Knowledge Sharing :


- Provide technical training and mentorship to system administrators and support teams.


Required Skills & Qualifications :


Technical Expertise :


- 8+ years of experience in VDI design and administration.


- Strong knowledge of Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp, VMware, and Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, WSUS).


- Familiarity with Citrix App Layering, VDI monitoring tools, and command-line troubleshooting.


Certifications :


- Preferred : VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Professional (CCP).


Soft Skills :


- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.


- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in complex environments.
