Undocked - Principal Engineer

Key Responsibilities :

Architectural Design and System Scalability :

- Design and architect robust, scalable, and highly available IP&R (Inventory, Pricing, and Reporting) or similar supply chain solutions.

- Drive the design and implementation of large-scale systems, leveraging RDBMS or cloud-native data warehouses like Google BigQuery.

Technical Operations and Reliability :

- Ensure the high availability and performance of systems in high-transaction volume environments.

- Oversee and implement best practices for backup/recovery and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity.

- Use expertise in security and Sarbanes-Oxley audits to maintain system integrity and compliance.

Automation and Process Improvement :

- Lead efforts in process reviews, continuous improvement, and the elimination of manual toil through automation.

- Develop and maintain solutions using Python, shell scripts, and SQL/PL-SQL.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Mentorship :

- Provide full-lifecycle support and technical guidance across multiple platforms and languages.

- Interact with and build effective relationships with diverse teams, including Infrastructure, Network, Development, and Business Partners.

- Analyze and recommend solutions for production issues, acting as a key technical resource.

Required Skills :

Core Technical Experience :

- 10+ years of experience as a Principal Engineer or Architect.

- 10+ years of experience in designing and supporting IP&R solutions or similar supply chain systems.

- Extensive experience with large-scale RDBMS or Google BigQuery.

Programming & Tools :

- Proficiency in Python, shell scripts, SQL, and PL/SQL scripting.

- Experience with Change & Release processes, GitHub, and CI/CD solutions.

System & Platform Knowledge :

- Experience with both on-premise and public cloud platforms.

- Strong background in managing high availability and high-transaction volume environments.

- Expertise in security and compliance audits (Sarbanes-Oxley).

Communication & Collaboration :

- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate business requirements into technical solutions.

- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills :

- Familiarity with streaming technologies such as STRIIM, Kafka, or Pub/Sub.

- Knowledge of big data technologies beyond SQL-based data warehouses.

- Experience in a supply chain or logistics-focused role.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
