About The Role :

As an engineer on uMetric i. Uber's Metric Platform, you will work on batch and nearline streaming systems as well as distributed systems building Uber's metrics store.

Focusing on Metric products, you'll work directly with end users to understand their use cases to design and build generalized solutions.

- End to end web development, build features and enhance tool to be used by other Engineers, PMs, DS & Ops.

- Collaborate with product managers, data science and global operations teams to gather requirements.

- Partner with fellow engineers to design, develop and scale.

- Mentor and support your fellow teammates.

- Drive ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements that improve the quality of the systems.

- Write clear documentation so that other engineers can partner to contribute and deliver.

Basic Qualifications :

- BS, MS in Computer Science, Maths or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

- 4+ years of experience in software engineering focusing on frontend engineering.

- Sound understanding of Computer architecture and CS fundamentals.

- Proficient in one or more languages : Javascript, Node.js or React.

- Extensive software design and development skills.

- Ability to learn, and adapt to new technologies and contribute in a productive environment.

- Experience working in an agile engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Constantly evolve the tool to incorporate new features being rolled out, identify bottlenecks and improve them.

- Collaborate with multiple product and engineering teams, as well as external partnerships for integration into our platform, along with integration into other platforms within and outside Uber as well.

- Work with Product, UX, and Design to enhance the portal.

- Write quality code and documentation which can be used as an example.

- Help build consensus by being open to a variety of viewpoints and aid in bridging a gap in case of a disagreement.
