Uber - Engineering Manager II - OS Deployment

About The Role :

Uber is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Container Platform Infrastructure group.

As a manager within Infrastructure you will have a significant impact on the evolution of Uber's backend teams and architecture.

Our mission is to make transportation as reliable as running water, and we are looking for a passionate manager to build the dependable foundation that supports that vision.

The Container Platform team's mission is to build the next generation of Uber's container orchestration platform that is secure, reliable, scalable, and highly efficient.

At Uber we have a complex infrastructure spanning both data centers and cloud, supporting a diverse variety of workloads (stateless, batch, stateful) each different in its characteristics and requirements.

What you'll Do :

- Provide product and technical leadership, set goals that produce value to the business, and uphold high technical standards for your team.

- Boost operational efficiency and development productivity of the team.

- Manage and grow individual team members, attract and recruit new talent responsible for ever-growing technical challenges.

- Collaborate across many areas of Uber, work with other technical, product and operation leaders across the Globe.

What you'll need :

Experience :

- 10+ years of significant experience building scalable, fault-tolerant, and robust products and platforms.

- Including 5+ years in managing engineering teams of 10+ people.

- Ability to lead teams in India and collaborate with stakeholder and sister teams in the US.

- Proficiency in Operating Systems, Linux, Virtual Machines, and Container (Docker/containerd), Cluster Management (Kubernetes, Mesos) technologies.

- Knowledge of Big Data (e.g Spark, Ray) technologies.
