Job Title : ME Test Engineer / Packet Core Test Engineer

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced ME Test Engineer with strong expertise in Packet Core Telecom domain testing and end-to-end call flow validation. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in testing complex telecom networks, analyzing protocols, debugging issues, and validating performance, security, and functionality across modern core network architectures. This role involves working closely with architecture, development, and operations teams to ensure high-quality, reliable telecom solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

Packet Core & Telecom Testing :

- Perform end-to-end testing of Packet Core Telecom systems, including IMS, VoLTE, CS Core, and PS Core.

- Analyze and validate end-to-end call flows, signaling, and data paths.

- Review and interpret 3GPP standards, RFCs, architecture, and design documents to create detailed and comprehensive test plans.

- Execute functional, performance, and security testing of telecom core network features.

Network & Protocol Expertise :

- Work extensively with TCP/IP, UDP, and QUIC protocols to validate network behavior and performance.

- Analyze signaling and data flows involving SIP and Diameter protocols.

- Apply strong knowledge of routing and networking protocols including :

1. BGP

2. IS-IS

3. OSPF

4. MPLS

5. LDP

- Perform Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) for traffic analysis and troubleshooting.

- Knowledge of CGNAT and its impact on packet core networks is a plus.

- Overall understanding of 5G Core (5GC) architecture is an added advantage.

Test Environment & Infrastructure :

- Design, build, and maintain test setups based on feature requirements in Kubernetes or OpenStack environments.

- Configure and manage Linux/Unix-based test systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

- Work with simulators, traffic generators, and test tools to emulate real-world telecom scenarios.

Debugging & Troubleshooting :

- Analyze system, application, and simulator logs to debug issues and identify root causes.

- Perform packet capture analysis using tools such as Wireshark to investigate network issues.

- Reproduce field-reported issues in lab environments for validation and resolution.

- Collaborate with development and operations teams to drive defect resolution.

Automation & Tools :

- Utilize and configure performance and traffic testing tools such as :

1. T-Rex

2. Spirent

3. iPerf

- Develop and maintain test scripts and automation frameworks to improve test coverage and efficiency.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and automation strategies.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- Strong experience in Packet Core Telecom testing.

- Hands-on expertise in IMS, VoLTE, CS Core, and PS Core testing.

- In-depth knowledge of SIP, Diameter, and end-to-end call flow analysis.

- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and networking fundamentals.

- Proven expertise in Wireshark and packet-level troubleshooting.

- Experience in functional, security, and performance testing.

- Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell, or similar) and at least one test automation framework.
