The Role :

Were looking for a founding-caliber backend engineer to help lead the design and build of the web application backend.

This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role. You will be an early member of a new, small, fast-moving org. Youll get to work with senior AI engineers, get exposure to the most cutting-edge AI technologies, and build a modern, AI-native web app backend.

This is not a role for someone looking for stability or well-defined processesits for someone who thrives when things are ambiguous and moving fast.

Responsibilities :

- Define and set up the web app architecture

- Design and implement the application API

- Help design the application data model

- Build the backend for an AI-native, conversational, agentic application

- Integrate with proprietary AI pipelines

Must-Have Requirements :

- 8+ years of backend experience

- 2+ years of experience at a product company, not services

- Experience with mature enterprise web applicationse.g., feature flags, user analytics, scaling, SSO, enterprise RBAC

- Experience building for a regulated industrye.g., finance, healthcare, government

- Strong experience with a backend framework of your choiceJS or Python

- Ability to define and set up the web app architecture

- Strong API design experience

- Strong SQL experience, including schema design and optimization

- Must be willing to work very hard

- Must be comfortable with ambiguity and moving fast

- Must take ownership of the entire web app backend

Nice to Have :

- Experience with AI-native backend/full-stack frameworks

- Experience integrating AI, conversational, or agentic features into a web app

- Frontend experience

- Experience with self-deployable applications

- Domain experience in infrastructure and digital transformationVMware, cloud migrations, app modernization, cloud management

What You Wont Do :

- AI engineeringwell have a team of senior AI engineers

- Hardcore infra or DevOpswell have a dedicated DevOps/SRE engineer
