Role Overview :

As a Software Engineer on the Agentic and Assist backend team, you will build and maintain the Python-based services and APIs that power intelligent assistance, document understanding, and agent-style workflows for Descrial's multi-tenant W-OS platform.

You will work with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, async SQLAlchemy, and LLM/agent frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, LangChain ecosystem, OpenAI APIs), and collaborate with teams owning Java/Spring services and shared infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities :

Backend service development :

- Implement RESTful APIs and background/async flows using Python 3.11+, FastAPI, and Pydantic.

- Contribute to data models, repositories, and multi-tenant-aware access patterns (tenant context, safe isolation).

- Integrate with PostgreSQL (including async drivers), and support schema evolution (e.g. Liquibase) alongside the team.

- Implement integrations with LLM providers, vector/RAG components, and internal Descrial services; handle errors, retries, and structured logging appropriately.

Quality and testing :

- Write unit and integration tests using pytest, pytest-asyncio, and HTTP client mocks (e.g. respx / httpx).

- Follow clean code and SOLID principles; participate in code reviews for Python services.

- Apply basics of performance (efficient queries, avoiding N+1 patterns, sensible caching where introduced).

DevOps, monitoring, and cloud :

- Use Git and team CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins + quality gates); fix build/test failures you touch.

- Deploy and operate services on Linux and AWS (containers, ECS/EKS-style patterns) with senior guidance.

- Support observability : OpenTelemetry/traces, logs, and metrics aligned with Prometheus / Loki / Grafana (or equivalent stack).

AI/LLM Integration :

Support prototyping and integration of AI/LLM-powered features using Python and libraries such as :

- Implement prompt orchestration, RAG pipelines, and agent graphs (e.g. LangGraph, LangChain) under clear specifications.

- Consume OpenAI (or similar) APIs safely (keys, timeouts, rate limits); assist with evaluation and logging of model calls.

Prerequisites :

- 1-2 years of experience in backend development with Java (preferably Java 11+, with awareness of Java 17 features).

- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot (REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate) and relational databases.

- Working knowledge of Python (e.g., scripting, utilities, or backend services) - required.

- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD (Jenkins), SonarQube, and Linux.

- Understanding or strong interest in multi-tenant SaaS architectures (tenant isolation, shared vs. dedicated resources).

Good to Have :

- Exposure to LLM / AI tooling such as LangChain, OpenAI APIs, AutoGen, CrewAI, or LangFlow (building or integrating AI-assisted workflows or agents).

- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Education : Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience from premier Engineering institution (IIT/NIT/IIIT).

Compensation : The compensation structure will be as per industry standards.
