Job Summary :
The Senior TM1 Consultant will be a critical expert in our Finance Systems Support team, responsible for the advanced administration, maintenance, and operational support of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) modules.
This role requires a deep understanding of TM1 architecture, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to drive data integrity, optimize financial close processes, and support complex reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
TM1 Administration & Data Maintenance :
- Manage and update attributes, dimensions, and complex hierarchies (e.g., Business Units, Entities), ensuring optimal performance.
- Perform regular, complex updates to maintain data integrity and consistency, often involving multiple data sources.
- Coordinate and validate critical rate updates (e.g., cost rates, forex rates, tax rates) with Finance and business teams, ensuring accuracy and timely deployment.
Data Integrity & Reconciliation :
- Lead and conduct detailed data reconciliations between TM1 and diverse source systems (ERP/SQL).
- Analyze complex reconciliation reports, investigate significant variances, and independently resolve data anomalies.
- Design and implement routine integrity checks to ensure system accuracy and completeness.
Mapping & Master Data Management :
- Expertly maintain and update complex mapping tables based on periodic checks and evolving business requests.
- Validate all mapping changes with key stakeholders and ensure timely, accurate deployment.
- Ensure project and master data mappings are accurate and up-to-date, proactively identifying potential issues.
Month-End Close Support :
- Proactively coordinate with Finance teams on month-end schedules and communicate comprehensive close timelines.
- Publish daily dashboards and detailed progress reports, providing insights during close activities.
- Execute soft and hard close processes in TM1, meticulously validate data completeness, and ensure data integrity before period closure.
Reporting & Data Extraction :
- Generate complex ad hoc reports and data extracts using SQL and advanced TM1 views.
- Provide expert support to Finance teams with one-off analysis and intricate reporting needs.
- Maintain stringent data confidentiality and security in all reporting activities, adhering to firm policies.
Issue Management & Operational Support :
- Perform advanced triage of TM1 system issues, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and resolve complex problems independently.
- Effectively escalate unresolved issues to technical support or managed services teams, providing detailed context.
- Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential risks, and implement preventative measures.
Project & Continuous Improvement Support :
- Actively participate in and lead sections of finance system projects, upgrades, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Provide expert inputs on system design improvements and significant process optimizations.
- Document complex processes, mappings, and updates thoroughly and clearly.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate and streamline TM1 operations, driving efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications :
Essential :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
4 to 6 years of relevant experience in :
- Financial systems support or planning tool administration (TM1 strongly preferred).
- Comprehensive data maintenance, complex reconciliation, and financial close processes.
Extensive hands-on experience with TM1 for :
- Cube maintenance, attribute updates, advanced data loading, and complex rule writing (Rules, Feeders, TI Processes).
- Managing and optimizing mapping tables and complex dimension hierarchies.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL for complex data extraction, manipulation, and reconciliation.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot intricate issues.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and consistently meet tight deadlines.
Preferred :
- Hands-on experience with IBM Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) and PAx, including dashboard development.
- Strong prior exposure to finance data workflows (budgeting, forecasting, or consolidation) at an enterprise level.
- Proven experience in working collaboratively with cross-functional finance and IT teams.
- Basic understanding of cloud environments related to TM1 deployments.
