Role Overview :
The Business Analyst Procurement will play a critical role in supporting Thiess procurement function through data-driven insights, advanced reporting, and analytical support. This role requires proactive ownership of procurement analytics, supplier benchmarking, tender evaluations, and KPI reporting across key areas including Sustainability, Indigenous participation, Emissions, and Cost Performance.
You will work closely with Procurement Management, Category Managers, Contract Advisors, and internal stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-impact analytical solutions that enable informed sourcing and contracting decisions.
Key Responsibilities :
Procurement Analytics & Reporting :
- Develop, maintain, and enhance structured, scalable Power BI dashboards linked to Excel and multiple data sources.
- Ensure dashboards provide clear visualisation of KPI trends, cost performance, supply volumes, and contract compliance over time.
- Customise dashboards for individual contracts or services while maintaining a replicable framework for future use.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities, risks, and potential supplier disputes.
Tender & Contract Support :
- Gather, organise, and analyse internal and external data to support sourcing strategies and tender decisions.
- Build baseline cost and performance models for upcoming tenders and contract renewals.
- Develop comparative vendor evaluation models highlighting commercial, operational, and performance strengths and weaknesses.
- Validate contract price reviews, rebates, and indexation mechanisms in line with contractual terms.
- Support Contract Advisors with concise analysis and recommendations for supplier selection and negotiations.
Strategic & Commercial Insights :
- Support category managers by analysing strategic spend portfolios across mining equipment, site services, and corporate categories.
- Identify cost reduction and efficiency opportunities through market trends, supplier innovation, and alternative offerings.
- Provide data-driven insights and analysis to support business cases and executive decision-making.
AI & Automation Enablement :
- Leverage AI tools to benchmark supplier contracts against internal standards and market conditions.
- Automate routine comparisons and analysis to enable focus on strategic procurement initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery :
- Engage effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of outputs.
- Demonstrate adaptability to changing priorities and provide flexible, responsive support across procurement activities.
- Maintain a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to ensure end-to-end delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Success Measures :
- Stakeholder confidence in analytics and reporting
- Accuracy, reliability, and scalability of dashboards and models

About You :
Qualifications & Experience :
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Law, Applied Science, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or commercial analytics
- Mining and/or construction industry experience is highly desirable
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards or similar ERP systems
Skills & Competencies :

- Advanced capability in Power BI and Excel
