About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled Test Automation Engineer with expertise in API Test Automation to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience designing and implementing robust API automation frameworks using the Karate Framework, along with strong manual API testing skills using Postman and Swagger. You will work closely with developers, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to validate complex API integrations, automate regression testing, and ensure high-quality software delivery across enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain API automation frameworks using the Karate Framework.

- Perform manual API testing using Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.

- Validate REST APIs by verifying:

1. Request and response payloads

2. JSON/XML schema validation

3. HTTP status codes

4. Response headers

5. Authentication and authorization

6. Business rules and functional behavior

- Create detailed manual test cases and convert them into reusable automated test scripts.

- Develop and maintain automation projects using Java and Maven.

- Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API testing.

- Analyze test results, identify defects, and collaborate with development teams for timely resolution.

- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

- Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated API test suites.

- Continuously improve automation coverage, framework efficiency, and test reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 5-10 years of software testing experience with a strong focus on API Test Automation.

- Hands-on expertise with the Karate Framework for API automation.

- Strong experience in manual API testing using Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.

- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and API validation techniques.

- Experience validating:

1. Request/Response payloads

2. JSON/XML structures

3. Status codes

4. Response headers

5. Business logic

- Proficiency in Java and Maven for automation framework development.

- Experience writing reusable and maintainable automated test scripts.

- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience integrating API automation into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

- Knowledge of Git version control.

- Experience with JUnit or TestNG.

- Understanding of OAuth, JWT, API authentication, and security testing.

- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-based environments.

- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Xray or similar test management tools.
