Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Physical Design Team Lead to spearhead backend implementation for advanced SoC/ASIC designs.
In this leadership role, you will drive physical design execution, guide technical decision-making, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality delivery through robust design methodologies and sign-off practices.
This role plays a critical part in enabling successful tape-outs for cutting-edge semiconductor products.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead end-to-end physical design execution for complex SoC/ASIC projects from RTL to GDSII
- Drive floorplanning, power planning, placement, CTS, routing, and timing closure activities
- Own timing sign-off using MCMM STA methodologies and resolve critical path issues
- Perform and review power integrity analysis, including IR drop, EM, and signal integrity checks
- Lead design sign-off activities, including DRC, LVS, ERC, and physical verification
- Collaborate closely with RTL, synthesis, DFT, verification, CAD, and packaging teams to ensure design quality and alignment
- Review constraints, flows, and methodologies to ensure PPA targets are met
- Mentor and guide team members, providing technical leadership and best-practice implementation
- Drive continuous improvement by defining backend design methodologies, checklists, and automation
- Participate in technical reviews, risk assessment, and tape-out readiness activities
Required Qualifications & Skills :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 710 years of hands-on experience in ASIC/SoC Physical Design, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong expertise in RTL-to-GDSII physical design flows
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools such as Synopsys (ICC2, PrimeTime), Cadence (Innovus, Tempus), Mentor (Calibre/Hercules)
- Deep understanding of STA, timing closure, clocking strategies, and MCMM analysis
- Proven experience in power integrity analysis, including IR drop, EM, and thermal considerations
- Solid scripting skills in Tcl, Perl, Python, or Shell for automation and flow optimization
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex design environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with demonstrated mentoring capability
